must get organizedI really need to figure out a plan as to how to be more organized.  I know for dinners, it’d be good to sit down on any given day of the week and plan out the meals, make a grocery list, shop and make most of what’s needed to eat those meals for the week.  Nope, not me.  Seems like I spend less and less time sitting and even less time at the store, as time goes by.  We eat what’s at home or order out.  I’m cool with that, but the waistline of my pants probably doth protest.   I am a list girl, so here’s a list for what I need to do, to help become more organized:

  • Organize the evenings/weekends into what gets cleaned and when.  (see fly lady site)
  • Same as above, except for errands
  • Set-up workout schedule.  Goal:  Cardio- dedicated 5 days/week; Yoga-2 days/week; Strength-2 days/week.
  • Arrange the month’s schedule (each month) to show which weekends we go to Chester Gap house and which weekends we don’t, to make room for play

Hmm.  Putting it on ‘paper’ sure makes it look organized.

Just a good babble, that’s what today’s post feels like. One thing I have been saying outloud lately: “Times, they are a changing.” We left the house at the ass crack o’ dawn yesterday for the Chester Gap house for some cleaning, decision making and to pick up the riding mower we bought from a guy on Craig’s List. Turns out that guy is the singer/guitar player for the local band Open Waters. We got the skinny as to where and when they play and loaded up the mower. I spent most of my time at the house, on my hands and knees scrubbing the kitchen floor. It was utterly filthy and I firmly believe that’s the only real way to get a floor clean, anyway. Especially a kitchen floor that appears to have not seen a sponge or cleaner in over a year. Once done, we sat by the pond for a while, enjoying the breeze, the willow trees and watching the fish play around. We even saw two little frogs. On the way home, my oldest sister Ramona made it known to us that she had arrived (aaaghhhh!!) at Dulles!! Ever so ready to see her since it’s been a few years, we detoured to McD’s for a quick snack (sorry, colon) and went to grab her. Oh so good to see her!! I then began a project I’d been putting off for quite a while and about 5 minutes into it, exhaustion set in. Sublime. I feel asleep more content than I can remember in a very.long.time. I think it comes from a sense of working, goal setting and meeting and not over-thinking things. Just doing. The only thing I wish I could wrap my head around is exactly that. My head. Meaning, there are so many things going on in it. I’m content at the moment but it feels like there is oh.so.much.to.do. So let’s do a word association: autumn; pumpkins; festivals; friends; tribe; trials; gratitude; grate; cheese; leaves; raking; baking; muffins; party; halloween; costume; work party; crazy hat day; morale; HR; job; projects; garden; flowers; food; music; meditate; rest; sleep; health; aches; joints; motion; move; house; family; sisters; kids; Mike & Corissa; John; cooking; recipes; blogpost; omigodwhatamigonnacookandposttoday?; and the list goes on and on. So there. It’s purged. Looking at it all in writing, it doesn’t look so bad. Random thought: OMG I lovelovelove Autumn!!

While taking a break during this post, I stepped outside to take a deep breath of the fresh, rainy air to gain inspiration for tonight’s dinner and we decided to cook
Mexican Shrimp and Meatball Soup from the Book of Big Flavors by Jim Fobel, yo.

We closed on the house yesterday in Front Royal. This is both exhilirating and scary at the same time. The amount of work that needs to be done is overwhelming but the beauty is we are in no hurry and there is plenty to enjoy while we are working. There are three willow trees, a large one which sits right next to the pond which is stocked with catfish, bass and blue gill.

So, I will collect my chestnuts from Chester Gap, as they are aplenty in that neck of the woods, and transport them over to my little squirrel buddies on this side of town, to share. After all, we are family and I love watching those little guys marvel at finding such a treat.
